Interesting and challenging note…Brings me back into reviewing history- at least the way I was taught it – as well as dreaming/imagining what a better nation would be or could have been: Ancient Greece ~400BC, the US in the XVIII Century but without the stain of slavery, France after the Revolution and before Napoleon took over?…many misfires not limited to these examples… PS. I am only mentioning “civilized” societies as I am not very knowledgeable of the others but am very aware that they exist (see Montaigne’s comments on the Tupinamba Indians and his criticism of so-called civilized societies)
